Dear School Administrator,

Please forward this email to your art instructors, afterschool program leaders and TAG instructors. Thank you for helping me raise awareness of this great program!

I am sending this email to invite you and your students to participate in the Federal Junior Duck Stamp Program.  The Junior Duck Stamp asks students to learn about waterfowl and their habitat, and then draw, paint, or sketch a picture of an eligible North American waterfowl species.  This contest can be entered with the entire class or school participating or individual students are encouraged to enter on their own.

Entries must be postmarked by March 15, 2017, and mailed to Neal Smith National Wildlife Refuge, P.O. Box 399, 9981 Pacific Street, Prairie City, IA 50228.  All information needed to participate can be found on the website. The website has been recently redone and the new address is very long. The site can most easily be accessed by searching “Junior Duck Stamp”.

The entries will be judged in late March and all teachers/students will be notified as soon as possible after that if they are one of the 100 Iowa winners. All winning students, their families and instructors will be invited to the award ceremony in late April.

If you have questions about the Junior Duck Stamp, please call me at 515/994-3400 or email Doreen_VanRyswyk@fws.gov.  I have a supply of paper that I would be happy to send you for your entries.  Just email me your requested amount and your mailing address.  I have attached a flyer for you to print and display in your classroom and/or another location at your school.

Please take a look at the website and see if this would be a good fit for a classroom project or for individual students that enjoy nature related art. We would enjoy having your students participate!
